NC to pressurise PM to quit

KATHMANDU, JUL 26 - The Nepali Congress (NC) Central Committee (CC) on Tuesday directed its Parliamentary Party to exert pressure on the prime minister to resign.
The Congress CC meeting directed the party leadership to take up every possible measure to force the prime minister to quit.
According to NC President Ram Chandra Poudel, the party meeting decided to continue House obstruction to protest the Cabinet reconstitution attempt and pressurise for the implementation of five-point deal.
On Monday, the party had obstructed the Legislature-Parliament before the House could begin discussion on the annual budget.
The NC has raised objections to the UCPN (Maoist) proposal to reshuffle its cabinet contingent saying that it is a part of plot to keep this government intact and avoid implementation of the five-point deal.
A point of five-point deal signed in the wee hours on May 29 states that the prime minister would resign to pave way for the formation of national consensus government.
However, the ruling UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML has been saying that the prime would resign only after forging a national consensus government.
